News / Professional voice announcements
« on: March 10, 2017, 12:34:37 pm »
Did you know?

With the latest version of Walkout Song DJ, you can use professional voice announcements for your players! Do a screen shot of your team roster from the Walkout Song page and send it Casey Motter at https://www.facebook.com/allstarintros/. Casey is the stadium announcer for the Atlanta Braves. For a pretty reasonable price, he will record announcements for each of your players and send an email back to you with all the announcement files. Simply open Casey's email on your device, long tap each announcement file and select 'Copy to Walkout Songs' and the announcement will be available to select for your player from the announcement picker.

General Discussion / Re: Multiple Users
« on: March 07, 2017, 09:33:33 pm »
There is no login for the app so there really isnt a concept of users.

There are individual team pages so multiple teams could be setup and shared in the app.  I have spoken to league representatives who use one instance of the app for all the teams in a league.

Would that work for what you were thinking?

General Discussion / Re: How do I import music files
« on: March 07, 2017, 01:49:44 pm »
iOS makes handling music files outside of their apps way more complicated than it needs to be.

The  way to import songs into Walkout Songs is to email them to yourself then open the email on the device.  Long tap the song file attachment and select 'copy to walkout song dj'.   That should copy it to the local file domain of Walkout Song DJ and make it available in the imported files list.

Issue Reporting / Re: Sound Quality
« on: March 03, 2017, 07:20:39 am »
Hmmm...  that is odd.  I have never had anyone complain about the sound quality since I first released the app back in 2013...

The only two modifications to the raw audio samples that the app makes are to alter the volume of individual songs via the gain control or to boost or diminish frequencies through the equalizer settings.

Do you have the equalizer settings enabled?

Do you have the gain for the songs set higher than the default?

What is the source of the songs that sound distorted?  Were they purchased from iTunes or imported from some other source?

I plan on starting the Andriod version this spring, but I have no clue how long it will take.   I will try to post status updates here and on the facebook page as progress is made.

Enhancement Requests / Re: Enhancement Suggestions by JSilva

I will take a listen to those two songs and see how a delay would work and how long it would need to be.

Thanks again for your suggestions!

Enhancement Requests / Re: Enhancement Suggestions by JSilva

That makes sense on the gain slider.  I probably could at least at a value display so you know what value you are setting.

The fade function is not enabled at the start unless you set a cue time and not at the end unless your duration stops before the normal song end.  It is assumed that most songs fade at start and end by themselves.  The reason I asked is that the natural fade time between start and end of songs is normally enough to not make the transition sound abrubt.  Are you encountering some songs that are sounding abrubt?  Can you send me examples?

I hadn't considered anything other than the slider control for gain.  Direct data entry is discouraged in the Apple user interface guidelines when other controls can do the job.  What is the specific problem with the slider that you are hoping i can solve with a direct entry control?

Interesting request on the time break between pre game playlist.  I haven't heard that request before, but it probably would not be difficult to implement.  I will try that out and see how it sounds for the next version.  For your pregame list, do you adjust the start and duration so the fade function comes into play or are you just playing a list of complete songs?

General Discussion / Re: Gain Control
« on: February 19, 2017, 02:03:26 pm »
You are correct in the purpose of the gain control and if you are gettng distortion, perhaps turn louder songs down rather than quieter songs up.   I dont think the iTunes adjustment should have any affect on the playback in Walkout songs.  I use the most basic ios player and actually modify the sound samples to achieve gain fade and equalizer affects for the app.

You should just have to go to the app store and locate Walkout Song DJ and then tap on the cloud icon to download the released version.

It will update the app you have and work with your existing configuration.  It is the same binaries that will be released publicly when Apple completes their review.

I requested an expedited review so hopefully some time today, but the beta with the fix is already available.  I will send you the invite for the beta so you can use it for the game.

I have analyzed the reported issue and found a problem created by the addition of the player announcement feature for version 2.3.0.

I put together a new version 2.3.1 that will support bluetooth output and the player announcement function.

That version has been submitted to Apple for beta and public release review this morning (2/14/17).
