FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions / Re: cant load itunes
« on: June 10, 2017, 05:17:58 pm »
Sounds like the permission for the app to access the iTunes library is disabled.  Go to the settings app, tap the privacy item, then tap the 'media and apple music'.  On the next list, Walkout Songs should be there with a little toggle switch.  Tap that to enabled and it should get it working.

Have you tried just setting the default values for both of those duration values to the maximum in configuration menu?   I would expect the max for those defaults would be longer than any walkout (39 secs) or inning break (230 secs) could actually require.   If not, I would be interested in the situations where you find those maximums are not enough?  I could certainly extend them if there is a good use case.

Not yet, but that feature is planned for the next update as it has been requested by a few people now.

I'm not sure I follow you...  what is the "text to voice" section?  I don't think that is part of the Walkout Song DJ app.

There are two ways to use a recorded announcement with the app.

The simplest method is to record your announcement directly in the app.
Tap the detail button for the player to bring up the player configuration
Tap the detail button on the announcement row to bring up the announcement selector
Tap the Recording item to open the record screen
Tap Record button and record your announcment
Tap stop when your done
Tap the back navigation buttons to return through the player configuration

The second method is to select an imported file you recorded through some third party application
For that method, you can email the file in mp3 or m4a format to yourself, open that email on the device, long tap the announcement file attachment and select 'copy to walkout songs'
*you can also export the file from iCould or DropBox drives if that is easier for you.
Tap the detail button for the player to bring up the player configuration
Tap the detail button on the announcement row to bring up the announcement selector
Tap the imported File row to open the file selector
Tap on the file you imported from the email above
Tap the back navigation buttons to return through the player configuration

Issue Reporting / Re: Music Selection Bug

Amazing no one has run into that issue before...  I will add a resolution as you suggest to the next update.

Thanks for the report!

Fade-in is automatic if the song doesn't start at the beginning.

There is a 'fade seconds' value in the config menu that defaults to one second and is applied to fade-in and fade-out.

General Discussion / Re: Cue

Cue is just the time to start the playback so you can start somewhere in the middle of the song.

I'm not sure what you mean by play continuously on the inning break songs....

Those are meant to be played as a single song for the time the players are warming up on the field.  The duration of those defaults to 120 seconds, but you can change that for individual songs or as a default value from the gear icon menu.

Yay, glad we figured it out!  Sorry it took me so long to figure out what was going on.

That privacy setting was added in iOS 10.  When you first tried to access the iTunes library after the iOS 10 update, it should have presented you with one of those messages "Walkout Songs requires access to your Music Library". If you accidentally tapped no instead of yes, then that's how it got disabled.

Ok, let's try this...  First make sure you have the latest version of Walkout Song DJ (2.3.1) and the latest version of iOS (10.3.1)

Next, open your settings app in iOS and look for the 'privacy' item and follow that.  Then look for "Media & Apple Music" item and follow that.   See if Walkout Songs is listed there and if the toggle switch is enabled or disabled.   It should be enabled for Walkout Songs to be able to access the iTunes library.  I suspect the switch is disabled.

General Discussion / Re: How to enable announcer

There is a little gear icon on the main page.  Tap that to pop up the config menu.  Somewhere in the middle of the menu is an announcement section with an 'enabled' toggle switch.

So you are still having a problem when selecting from the iTunes library within Walkout Song DJ, but you can open the Music app on the device without any issues?

And I assume this used to work for you but stopped working recently?

Thanks for the interest in the Walkout Song DJ For Android.  I did finally start work on the Android version two weeks ago.  I am currently working on finding the parallel user interface controls in Android that closest match the ones I used in iOS. That turns out to be a pretty frustrating battle because of the rapid evolution of the Android controls.  I search for a control and find something that seems like it should work only to find that method is deprecated and something else has taken its place.  Oh well, i guess slow progress is way better than no progress.  :)

Hmmm... Now I'm not sure what is going on with it for the imported file browser not to work.  That has not been reported before.  Are you possibly having problems with running out of storage space on the device?

The iTunes song selector actually runs in the context of the iTunes music app and the cycle back is just a symptom that the ITunes music app is having problems and cannot present the selector. This has been reported to me a few times recently and I suspect a bug in the 10.3 version of the iTunes music app.

Try these steps one at a time to resolve:
1) Try opening the iTunes music app on your device to see if there are any error messages and refresh its database.
2) Double tap the home button and swipe kill the iTunes music app.  Then try to reopen the iTunes music app.
3) Power down and then restart your device to clear the memory state of the iTunes music app.
