I looked at adding support for Amazon Prime Music last year and they did not have any third party interfaces available for developers to use to integrate into mobile apps.

I will take a look again and see if that has changed and keep it on the radar if it still has not.

Release Notes / Closed Alpha test of Android version to start 2/12/18

After nearly a year of work, the first alpha version of Walkout Song DJ for Android is ready for those who would like to help test it or are a desperate to use the app on the Android platform.  The only functionality not complete is the pregame playlist tab and import/export of the app config.  I was able to very closely recreate all the functionality of the most current version of the iOS version and even improved on the team selection functions.

If you are interested in participating in the alpha test, send me a message here or on the app facebook page and I will add you to the distribution list.

For the Android version, I do plan to support import of the setup database and that should work well.  The tricky part is the songs themselves.  I could create functionality in both platforms to export/import the music via email as well, but that would be a pretty large amount of data.  I think a better approach would be some sort of cloud transfer, but I haven't dug into how complicated that would be.

hmmm, folders would be an interesting concept.  Pretty big change in the underlying data structure but does provide some flexibility for the future.  Perhaps I could also apply that to the team concept on the walkout page as well.  I've been looking for a way to clean up the multi page selector there as it is pretty confusing for users of the non-engineer variety.


Not sure how soon I can get to working on this but I will add it to the todo list.  Right now, I have about 65% of the Android version completed and I am pushing to have that ready for the spring season.

Wow, I never noticed that before... I can definately add a check for the number and just announce the name if the number is not entered.  Look for that in the next update.

Unfortunately, the lowest version of iOS the app has ever supported was 6.0 so that is why your device with max version of iOS 5.1.1 cannot purchase the app.  That device was produced in 2009, around 4 years before I created the first version of Walkout Song DJ.

I do understand that is the highest iOS version supported by that device, but most of the operating system features required by the app were not available in that iOS version.  I would recommend maybe finding a used generation 5 iPod as those will support iOS 9 and all the best features of Walkout Song DJ.

Are you referring to the text to speech announcement or a recorded announcement?

There is no configuration option in the app to change either one currently but there are options within the iOS interfaces that I could enable to turn the volume down of either one.
That would only help you if they are too loud. There is no way to turn the volume for them higher.  The volume value in the iOS interface is 0.0 to 1.0 and they default to 1.0 which is what you currently hear with the app.

Just wanted to let you know this feature is part of the 2.3.2 update of the app.  The setting menu from the gear icon now has an option to do the announcement before or after the song.  Hopefully, you already have the update and noticed it was added.

Interesting questions and use of the app...  it has caught me a bit by surprise at the other sports people use the app for.   Unfortunately, there isn't any way to move songs with cue and duration settings between tabs yet.  For the original purpose of the app, I hadn't envisioned a use case for copying songs and setup between the tab scenarios.  I also don't see a clean approach for a user interface to make those moves.   Which tab where you thinking of moving your song setups to?  Did you have an expectation of how you thought it might work?

Regarding deleting the extra pages on the walkout tab... There is no way to delete an entire page yet, but I have had that requested before and I do plan to implement that function in the next update around Christmas time.  In the meantime, you can tap the edit button on the extra page, delete each entry from the table, then kill and restart the app and it will remove the blank pages.
