Issue Reporting / Re: Can’t access my library
« on: February 23, 2019, 08:08:53 pm »
Have opened the walkout song app, added a player, and then attempted to add a song from your iTunes library?  The app doesnt appear in the privacy lists until you actually attempt to access your lbrary.  The app should also present you with a request to allow access to the library at that point.

I found a possible solution...  Does your devices by chance have 'screen time' enabled?  There are settings in there to disallow changes to privacy settngs.

I have never had anyone report a problem like this in the 5 years the app has been out there so I have no solutions in mind.  From what I read on Apple forums, they suggest killing the settings app, power cycling your device, or reinstalling the app.  But if you tried it on two devices and get the same issue, those solutions seem moot.

Can you email to walkoutsongdj@gmail.com a screen shot of your privacy page from the Apple Settings App and then the page that opens up when you tap on the Walkout Song DJ app icon in the settings app.

Well that is very odd...

what version of iOS is on your device?

Do you have things already setup in the app or is this a fresh install?

Under privacy, the setting category for your library is "media and Apple Music".  Tapping that should bring up a list with the Walkout Song DJ app listed.  You can also just look for the App icon at the bottom of the settings list and tap that. "Media and Apple music" should be there as well.

Is this on Apple or Android?  Where is your music located?

Regarding the mixing option on Apple devices...  that was initially released only supporting purchased or imported songs.  For Apple music subscription songs, the playback interface from Apple is very limited and required a more complex approach.  I think I have most of the kinks worked out on that and support for mixing all song types was released today 3/20/19. I use phased release with updates over 7 days, so you may need to search for the app in the appstore and manually get the update if you need it quicker.

The only known issue with the mixing feature is muting of the announcement on a small number of bluetooth devices combined with iOS 12.  The feature is not workable with those devices unless you use a long aux cable rather than bluetooth.

General Discussion / Re: File not Found Error
« on: February 22, 2019, 09:23:10 am »
On Apple, the file not found error usually occurs because the Apple iCloud management is removing local copies of song files because it doesn't think you are using them.  Might be possible to make more storage space on the device to avoid the file not found problem.

Regarding the mixing...  that only works with songs that you purchase from iTunes directly.   For Apple music subscription songs, Apple does not provide any way to control the volume of the playback without controlling the whole device volume.  Mixing without being able to fade the song at start or end sounds pretty horrible.

If the mixing option is important to you, then a reasonable option would be to purchase individually the songs you are using for walkouts mixed with announcements and then use subscription songs for the rest of the app.

Enhancement Requests / Re: Announcement Effects
« on: February 02, 2019, 09:08:43 pm »
I have evaluated the addition of affects to the text to speech announcements and it doesn't seem very possible without changing to a commercial provider of the text to speech which would not be free.

The Apple speech engine provides no opportunity to manipulate the audio output of text to speech.  Android does provide some opportunity to manipulate the text to speech, but the affects I have tried did not really come close to making the robot voices sound like a stadium announcer.

I do plan on evaluating some commercial text to speech companies to see if they could provide something along the stadium announcer theme that I could provide as in app purchase.

I do get many questions and occasional bad reviews regarding the robot voices so it is high on my list of improvements to make in the next year.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions / Re: How to import songs
« on: January 25, 2019, 09:53:54 pm »
You can import song files to the Apple version of the app by either emailing them to yourself as a file attachment or putting them on a cloud service like iCloud, dropbox, google drive.  Open the email or cloud source, tap on the song file and select 'copy to walkout songs' from the menu which will copy the song to the imported file collection in the app.

Release Notes / iOS version 2.5.2 has bug in announcement recording
« on: January 02, 2019, 04:43:12 pm »
iOS version 2.5.2 that was just released from the app store today has a bug in the announcement recording that prevents you from playing back or using recorded announcements for your players.

I have a fixed version 2.5.3 submitted to the app store that should be available as soon as Apple completes their review.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions / Re: sign in to app on different device
« on: December 16, 2018, 06:35:47 pm »
You can export all the settings to an email and import that on another device, but the music must be redownloaded on that device because the music industry is pretty touchy on apps transferring songs.  The app will match up the songs on the other device by title and artist if they are there.
