I do have the reset feature implemented and it seems to be working well.  Look for it in the release that should show up in the app store early in November...  sorry it took so long.  Started a new day job and didn't have much extra time :)

Enhancement Requests / Re: quick fade in option
« on: October 28, 2014, 10:46:28 pm »
Thanks for the suggestion!!

I actually have a new feature in the works to do a 1 second fade in any time the walkout song is not started at the beginning.

It seems to be working very well and should be included in my next release.

I expect to submit the new version to the app store within the next week or so.  I just have to finish up some testing with iOS8 to make sure everything is compatible.

Issue Reporting / Re: Player announcement talking too fast....
« on: September 20, 2014, 04:57:04 pm »
Nothing has changed in the app itself to cause the speech rate to change, but I did run some tests comparing the speech result on iOS 8 and iOS 7 and it does sound about twice as fast on iOS 8.  I have a new version of Walkout Song DJ prepared that I was just waiting to release until I had some feedback from people using it with iOS 8. There always seems to be some little issues like this whenever a new iOS version is released.  I suspect I will need to add a speech rate setting on the app settings page to allow tuning the rate to your taste.

I appreciate the feedback.  Please look for that new version in the next week or so.  Hopefully, that will get you back operational again.

That is a pretty good suggestion...  not sure exactly where to add the option, but I should be able to find somewhere to stick it.

Just as a quick workaround, if you delete the app and reinstall, it will clear the database for you.

Issue Reporting / Re: Inning break songs only play for 2:00
« on: June 12, 2014, 07:01:50 pm »
when you go into the setting and change that value...  that will only apply to inning songs that you add from that point on.

The inning songs that you already have configured will stay with the value they had when you first added them.

You can simply delete the inning songs you have already added and add them again to get the 160 second duration

Or you can simply tap the duration value for each song in the table and set the duration as long as you want using "cue time and duration" edit view that pops up.

General Discussion / Re: Drop player

Not yet...  with iOS 7.1 there was only one english voice available for apps to use.   I anticipate this will change in future iOS versions and I will make the options available in the app as they are made available.

Issue Reporting / Re: App freezing up

Well, I investigated the version available with a 4g ipod that I use for testing and it gets the latest version from the app store.

I believe you do have the latest version of the app.  I think the 1.9 you are referring to is the size of that distribution in MB rather than the actual version number.

However, there are differences in how the app operates with 7.1 versus 6.1 iOS based on the music player engine that is available from the operating system.  I also have not put nearly as much testing time into the 6.1 compatible music engine since the remaining distribution of that iOS version is very small.  Your description of when the freeze occurs does give me a sequence to test so I will do some tests and see if I can figure out what is happening.

In the meantime, if you had a device that runs 7.1 iOS, that would probably avoid the problem for you.

I actually never released a version 1.9 so I'm not sure what version you actually have.  I suspect you must have 2.1.9.  That version did have a known issue that caused some crashes but I did get reports of a freeze.

The latest version is 2.1.10 and that is what I currently see in the appstore for iPad or iPhone.

The only thing I can think of that could prevent getting the latest version would be the iOS version you are using.  If you are using iOS 7, then all versions up to the latest should be available.

ok, I understand what you are looking for.

I have seen that implemented in other apps so I have a model to work from.

I will add that to the feature list for the next version and see what I can do.

Thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated!!

You can click the edit button on table header and then use the little gripper that appears to drag the player to the end of the list...   Would that work for you?  Otherwise, there really is no way to remove a player without deleting them.  I could add that feature in later version if I could figure out operationally how that would look.  Have you seen the feature in another app that you could point out so I could get an idea of what your are expecting.

Freezing up is something I have not heard reported before and there is over 600 different teams using so there must be something unique to your setup.  I will have to throw a couple questions at you to see if I can figure out what would be causing the problem in your particular setup.

What generation of ipod are you using?
Is there any particular sequence of events that lead to that condition?
Does it happen on any specific page of the app?
How many of the tabs do you have set up and how many songs on each?
Does it freeze before, during, or after a song is played?
Does it happen with more than one song?
Do you have anything else running on the device that might use a great deal of memory or processor power?
Have you tried installing the app on a different device if you have more than one?

Issue Reporting / Re: Songs in cloud?
« on: May 01, 2014, 09:14:48 am »
If they were songs downloaded from iTunes long ago, then I would suspect they have some digital rights protection.  Before 2009,  the music you downloaded from iTunes was encrypted to protect it from people copying and giving to friends.  Walkout Song DJ is not provided the encryption keys from iTunes so those songs can't be set as a walkout song.

There are options from iTunes to convert protected songs to non-protected versions, but I have not been able to test any of them because I do not have any songs with protection.

Apple also seems to change the suggested method to deal with the conversion every year or so.

From what I can determine, burning those particular songs to a CD with the iTunes PC app, and then importing them as mp3 files is the simplest and cheapest method.

The only reason I have seen for that error message is when the particular song file has not been downloaded to the device.  It usually occurs when you buy a song from iTunes for one device and download it only to that device.  If you then try to add that as a walkout song on a second device that shares your iTunes account, then you will usually end up with the cloud error message.  In those cases, you can open either the iTunes or the Music app on the device you are using for walkout songs and that song should have a little icon shaped like a cloud with a down arrow.  If you tap on that cloud the song downloads and it then can be added as a walkout song.

If you have opened the music app and verified that the song does not have a cloud icon, then you may have a new issue that I have not encountered yet.

If that is the case, could you please give me a little context on how the song was added to the device and what type of music file it is?
