Title: Revived app to start a new season and ... problems
Post by: JWills on February 11, 2026, 11:16:51 AM
I fired up the iPad to start a new season today (trying to get the most out of the Apple subscription).  I can't get anything to work though the app.  Songs in the app won't connect to Apple Music.

I try to play an exiting player and the following occurs: Get warning Apple Music Song Not Found with options to open Music app or OK.  Hit open app, make sure the song is in library/downloaded/in playlist, yet I get no option to select the song.  If I back out and click the song title in the players listing I get the same "not found" message.  Select to open app and then iTunes Library, choose playlists and then the Walkout Song DJ playlist, scroll to the song and click the blue + to the right and it turns to a blue check.  Then I have no option to proceed.  The options on the open window are a red back arrow or red cancel at the top.  Cancel doesn't work.  If you tap to the side you get the original window where you can pick from iTunes Library, imported collection, etc.  Cancel works from this screen but takes me back to square one.

I've created new players and tried to add with the following process: Tap to select song, iTunes Library (song is present, in playlist and downloaded), locate song and hit blue + and get blue check.  Then like above, I get cancel or back and cancel doesn't work.

I'm on an iPad Air 2 which updated this morning to 15.8.6 and the WalkoutDJ app updated to 3.1.22.

I have a game in 8 days and am panicking over here.

Also, your password reset apparently isn't working.  I had to create a new account with a different email address cause I never received a reset notification.  Checked all the spam, trash, etc and even sent test emails to myself to make sure things were going through.

That's a lot to unpack and I'm not sure I fully understand what issue you are seeing... Could you do a share data from the settings page of the app to walkoutsongdj@gmail.com so I can see how the Apple music links look and if I can import them here.

In the meantime, you might want to just try a simple device shutdown and restart because it may just be a glitch in the Apple Music/Itunes library on the device.  Walkout Song Dj is pretty much at the mercy of those libraries. When you click to add a song, we ask the Apple Music app to show the list of songs and hope it returns the id of what you picked.  We have no control over the mechanics of what it presents to you.

File has been sent.  It's from a yahoo account but not the account I'm registered with. It was all I had on the iPad.

Basically, I can't get any songs to play.  It acts like the song isn't there.  If I try to reconnect the song for the player it won't follow through.  Adding a new player from scratch acts the same way and won't let me complete it.

I received the export in the email, imported to my iPad, it processed all teams and songs and imported them and they play without issue.  There is definitely something going on with the iTunes library on your device that is preventing Walkout Song DJ from accessing or playing the Apple Music songs.  Can you go to the settings app on the device, go to apps, pick Walkout Song DJ and then check the permissions to make sure 'media and Apple Music' toggle is enabled?

Seems there is nothing there except "Siri & Search". There is a line that says "Walkout Songs Settings" but there is nothing under it.

Then that would explain the problem... can you check in the settings app under privacy & security, media & Apple Music and see if walkout song dj is listed there, and if any apps are listed there?

No apps listed there.

If you haven't yet, please try a power cycle of the iPad to see if that restores the permissions.  If that does not work, then see if you have the Apple iMovie app installed.  That app requests music permission.  If it is installed, try to uninstall it, then reinstall it from the App Store.  Run it and see if it prompts for the music permission and grant that. Then go see if it appears in the privacy and security under media and Apple Music.  If it does, then the same uninstall/reinstall should work for Walkout Song DJ.  Removing the Walkout Song DJ app will delete your data, but it should prompt you after reinstall to restore from cloud backup.  If not, the file backup you emailed to me can be opened on the iPad and shared to Walkout Song DJ to restore.

I installed iMovie, did not see music permission requests.  I uninstalled an reinstalled Apple Music.  Still nothing different.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Walkout Song DJ reimported settings, no change.  There have been several reboots along the way.  Have I got an OS issue?

Does seem that way, but I have no idea exactly what.  Did you run the iMovie app after install?  Did it ask for permission for music?  Also did you run Walkout Song DJ after reinstall and did it ask for music permission?

Yes I did all those things and looking for permissions.  After my reinstall of Music it didn't want to sync up with my phone and keep my playlists.  I had to fiddle with it to get it to.  I guess I'm reluctantly going to wipe the iPad.
