Similar to a few other posts, there are times after I fade, stop, or pause music where the app will unexpectedly pick up where it left off, blasting music unexpectedly. I absolutely love this app. Using it to help with so many highschool sports events, but definitely a problem and has me on high alert which can be uncomfortable. It has happened on/off over the many years I've been using it. I thought I'd fixed it when I made sure Bluetooth was off on my iPad because Bluetooth is not really compatible with the app. But still occasionally having the issue when Bluetooth is off. Could it be that I should also disable WiFi before using it?
I only recall one other post on this topic and the user stopped responding before I could get to the bottom of it. You do offer a clue he did not in that it is the same song that last played. To give you some background on what might be happening: to play an Apple Music song, the app starts a remote Apple music service that is hosted by the apple music app on the device. When you do your fade/stop/pause a signal is sent to that remote service to do the action and it usually works, but that song would remain in queue of that service. Seems something must be bumping the service to start playing the song again. No clue what that would be. Does the rogue play start immediately after the your action or has some time gone by when it triggers? Is there any correlation to which way you stop the players song.. ie pressing the pause button, pressing the fade button, letting if fade and finish normally?
Thanks for the quick response. The music does not return immediately after previously stopping it. I'd say it tends to come back several minutes after having been previously stopped via fade/pause/completion. I've not noticed which of those stopping methods were used leading up to the unexpected return of the music though I am typically using fade. Since it doesn't happen that often I wonder if it may related to pausing. This tended to happen with much greater frequency when Bluetooth was not disabled.
I could see the pause path being the potential problem as that really does leave the song in a queued and prepared mode in the apple music app. The several minutes later clue brings into play a potential backgrounding of the app and or kill of the app by the OS and then on restart, not sure what the behavior would be with that dangling song. I might be able to add some code to the app to clear the queue on a potential OS kill and see if that avoids the issue. I don't see any direct link to bluetooth if you were not using bluetooth for playback, but anything is possible in the mystery of the Apple music player.
