Issue Reporting / Re: Importing songs from iTunes library
« on: April 21, 2017, 05:36:42 am »
Hmmm... Now I'm not sure what is going on with it for the imported file browser not to work.  That has not been reported before.  Are you possibly having problems with running out of storage space on the device?

Issue Reporting / Re: Importing songs from iTunes library
« on: April 20, 2017, 06:11:35 am »
The iTunes song selector actually runs in the context of the iTunes music app and the cycle back is just a symptom that the ITunes music app is having problems and cannot present the selector. This has been reported to me a few times recently and I suspect a bug in the 10.3 version of the iTunes music app.

Try these steps one at a time to resolve:
1) Try opening the iTunes music app on your device to see if there are any error messages and refresh its database.
2) Double tap the home button and swipe kill the iTunes music app.  Then try to reopen the iTunes music app.
3) Power down and then restart your device to clear the memory state of the iTunes music app.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions / Re: Does software work with Spotify
« on: April 13, 2017, 10:40:18 am »
Yes, I will add you to the beta, but there is a new roadblock in the path to supporting Spotify...

For a commercial app (the 4.99 price point of wsdj qualifies) to support Spotify music sources, I must have written consent from Spotify.  I did apply for that consent a week or so ago, but I have heard nothing back and from what I read in forums, it can take years to get a response  and they are pretty picky on giving that consent so I'm not sure I will get the approval.

I do have much of the functionality working to support Spotify, but for the moment I have suspended that effort pending Spotify approval.

There are some other important features on the wsdj todo list so I do plan a beta some time in early summer for those and you will get notice of that beta release from Apple when it is available.

I sure understand the obsessing...  That is why the app exists in the first place  8)

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions / Re: No decodable audio tracks
« on: April 03, 2017, 09:18:38 pm »
The no decodable tracks for a song that was there last year, usually just means that the itunes library removed the local copy of a song to make room on the device.  You can usually fix that by opening the music app on the device and tapping the cloud icon by the song to redownload.

The problem with it not opening the itunes library is usually something hung up in the iOs music app.  That entire picker screen is actually run in the music app process.  I would try either killing the music app or restarting the device.

It is not possible yet to play the announcement before the song, but I have been asked quite a few times in the last couple weeks for that option so I am working on a configuration option for the user to align the music and announcement at the beginning, end, or just by arbitrary time to mix them together.    Expect to see that in the next version released sometime after the height of the season.  I try to not to release updates when the app is in heavy use so I don't break things and anger the user base.

Ok, now i understand...  I am impressed you went to such great lengths to get the songs cropped and loaded through itunes.  That was the work i hoped to avoid for most people by the cue and duration settings.

Anyway, i did not expect people to go through that effort of recording and then importing announcements through iTunes.  The method to import announcements if they are in mp3 format is to email them to yourself and then open that email on your device.  If you then tap and hold for a second and then release on each announcement file, there should be a popup menu of destinations for the file and 'copy to walkout songs' should be in the list.  Once they are imported they should show up in the imported announcements list.

Note: This option is only available in version 2.3 or later of wsdj, so make sure you have the latest version.

Let me know if that works for you and i apologize for the confusion in the interface.

Joefla70, Can you please provide me a little background on what you are trying to do?

What is the source of the announcement files you are trying to import?  Do you know what sound file format the announcements were recorded in?

Enhancement Requests / Re: Announcements
« on: April 02, 2017, 11:07:40 am »
There is no hard schedule for releases because it's just me writing when I have spare time.  However, I try to avoid putting out releases from mid-February to June so I can avoid breaking things for people using the app for their season.

Yes, that features is already on the list for the next version.  The implementation will likely be some method to allow the user to arbitrarily align the song and announcement based on time.

Yes, I have had that request from others.  That is already on the list for the next version.

That one means to play to end instead of fading out at the configured time.    That is typically used for the first batter of the inning when there is more time available .

It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong...  you describe functionality that should work.  I haven't heard of any problems reported in that area, but I will run some tests on my setup to see if a bug has been introduced somewhere along the line.

Just to clarify, what do you mean by (which has been cued) ?
